Very Decadent

It's not necessary to go out to a restaurant to have a great Valentine's Day dinner. Tonight we celebrated with the following lineup:

  • Filet Mignon
  • Lobster
  • Hacklefish Caviar (a decent made-in-America alternative to the really expensive stuff)
  • Green Beans
  • Barley Bread fresh from the bread maker
  • Cheese
  • 14 Hands Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State

We rounded out the evening with Desperado, one of our favorite movies--great music, beautiful actors, wonderful directing. We interrupted the movie for dessert:

  • Chocolate Pot de Crème
  • Blueberry Dessert Wine
  • Decaf Espresso

Thanks, [info]raaga123!

That sounds wonderful!

:)

I also prefer to stay home on Valentine's day...it's not all that romantic to be crammed in a noisy restaurant with a hundred other couples, in my opinion.

I just looked up caviar on wikipedia and I was surprised to find that there are more than just the three kinds that I was aware of. I saw these kinds in Saint Petersburg Russia, they were sold in corner delis. I remember seeing small black, small red and large gold/red kinds. I don't like caviar so I didn't pay much attention. I just found out that the black is sturgeon and the large gold was from trout but I still don't know what the others really are. I also found out that Europe used to get most of its caviar from the great lakes sturgeon but now they are an endangered species. However, renewable resources are being sought.

Actually, they were sugar snap peas rather than green beans. They do look alike, though. The easiest way to tell them apart is to watch and see if I eat them. ;-)

As for the caviar and wine, that was you. Thanks back!
